September 2006 MNK Update

07 Dec 2007

October 2006

Dear Prayer Partners,

Oh give thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever. Psalm 136:1.

We want to share several praises with you. Several months ago we shared that we had the opportunity to show the Jesus Film in several villages and in Sedhiou. We have wonderful equipment, but we lacked a generator.  We were renting a generator from someone in town.  We have dear friends in our home state of SC who wrote us to say that they wanted to do something in addition to praying to help with our ministry.

With the help of members of Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church, we were able to purchase a generator to use with the video equipment. We are not able to show the film right now because of the rainy season, but soon we pray that we will be able to show it in many villages.  Please pray that many will see the Jesus Film and desire to know more about Jesus. Pray for many to be saved.

On a personal note, we are praising God for answers to prayer concerning school for our boys.  I want to thank you for praying for our school books to arrive. Alex and Daniel’s books arrived about the second week in September. They are off to a good start. Patrick’s books are now in Dakar.  Our supervisors are coming for a visit and will bring them.  I realized that the extra delay in Patrick’s books has been a blessing in disguise. We have used this time to work on areas that needed a little attention. God is good all the time!

Schools will open in October here in Senegal. Please pray for more Christian teachers in the school system.  Pray that the teachers who are believers will be bold witnesses to fellow teachers and students.  Please pray for opportunities for students to read and understand the Gospel.  Pray for parents to encourage their children in the education process.

Please pray for the translation work being done in The Gambia by WEC International. There is a team revising the New Testament now. They plan to have the revised New Testament and Old Testament published by the end of next year. This will be wonderful to have a complete Bible in the Mandinka language.  Please pray for this work to go forward until its completion.  Please pray for protection for the workers directly involved with the translation and their families.

There are many ways to become more involved with ministering among the Mandinka and West Africa. Our team has career and volunteer opportunities available. We also want to make sure that you are aware of the West Africa Summit November 1-3 in St. Louis. Visit the www.gowestafrica.org for more information.

Thank you for faithfully praying for the salvation of the MNK.
