December 2006 MNK Update

07 Dec 2007

December 30, 2006

Dear Faithful Friends,

We trust that you had a blessed Christmas. We pray that as we look back at 2006 we will see in hindsight how the Hand of God carried us through difficult times and increase our confidence that He is more than able to carry us through 2007.

Relax, everything’s going to be all right; rest, everything’s coming together; open your hearts, love is on the way! Jude 1:2.  God is so good.  This is the Bible verse that I began with one of the days that I was working on the prayer calendar. To be honest I was tired and a little frustrated with some events of the day. That is definitely not a good way to approach working on a prayer calendar, but God in His Graciousness used His powerful word to completely change my temperament. This verse is from a translation called The Message. We have a wonderful Bible study program that is free to down load from the internet at www.e-sword.net.  There are some good things on the internet.

We would like to share praises with you.  Beryl Bledsoe has offered to be our stateside prayer advocate. She will help us send out the calendars. We hope that this will eliminate some of the calendars that are floating around in cyberspace. We are continuing to praise God for calling Kimberly Thompson to the Mandinka Team. Please pray for her as she is making preparations to go to the orientation program.  We are also giving thanks for the opportunity to share the Christmas story with our neighbors. We served hot chocolate and pumpkin bread, and gave small bags of cookies and popcorn as they left. Some of the young men whom Richard teaches presented the Christmas story. Several of the men asked leading questions, and then one would read the answer from scripture. They did a remarkable job. We aren’t sure of the exact number of people, but our compound was overflowing.  Please pray that our neighbors will desire to know more of God’s Word.

We are in the midst of preparing for some of our friends from Hunter Street Baptist Church who are coming for a volunteer trip. We will worship and fellowship together on New Year’s Eve. Then on Monday, January 1, we will head out to begin prayer walking and sharing Bible stories. Please pray for the team to be healthy. Pray for our translators to hear and communicate clearly. Please especially pray for the people in these villages to have open hearts and minds to the Gospel.

We want to thank you for giving generously of your time to pray for the salvation of the Mandinka people.  Also we want to thank you for giving generously of you financial resources to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. One hundred percent of this offering goes to the field. What a wonderful way to honor God with our time and resources.

We pray that God will add many Mandinka men and women to His Kingdom in this coming year.

Happy New Year!
