Dear Prayer Partners
Greetings from Sedhiou! We
thank you for lifting the daily prayer requests to our
Heavenly Father on behalf of the Mandinka. Our work is
often slow, but we know that God is working in this
place. We are encouraged by your participation in our
ministry.
Thank you for praying for
the team from FBC Liberty City, Texas. Other than a few
bags being delayed the team arrived well and ready to
work. They came to prayer walk, share stories from God’s
Word, work with students in an English class, and share
the love of Christ with all who the Spirit brings in
contact with them. Their hearts have broken for the
Mandinka as they have made visits in BN and DS. They
will go to DjT and back to BN next week. Please pray
that the Mandinka will see a difference in the
volunteers and seek to know the source of their peace
and joy.
We have sad news to share
with you. We were making a follow up visit in BF after
the medical clinic. The village had recently had an all
night celebration of their main religion. The village
chief apparently had a stroke a several days later. He
could not speak or move his right extremities. We took
him to the hospital. He was there for almost a week. The
family then asked us to take him back to the village. He
died the next day. He was a very kind man and opened his
village for us to teach and minister. We do not know if
he made a decision in his heart. Please lift this
village in their time of sorrow. Please pray that they
will seek to know the One who can give eternal life.
Each week we pray for the
radio program, Sila Tilindingo, to help us to sow the
Word of God. We along with our GCC’s (Great Commission
Christians) are working out details for Sila Tilindingo
to air an hour each week instead of twenty minutes. One
of the areas that we are working in, that includes the
villages BN, MK, and MF do not pick up the Sedhiou
station where the program is broadcasted. We are making
arrangements to air Sila Tilindingo on another station
that has a strong signal in this area. The Sedhiou radio
manager has been instrumental in making these
arrangements. We are excited that these areas will have
access to the Gospel. Please pray that God’s Word will
take root deep in their hearts.
Our family is preparing
for stateside assignment. The boys are finishing up
school and boxes are becoming the main décor in our
house. This month Richard helped me compile a list for
the calendar including village chiefs and religious
leaders of villages that we have worked in to lift in
prayer for the first two weeks of June. For many of
these leaders we only have one initial because they are
referred to by their title as chief and their last name.
Each Sunday we will pray for a believer and continue to
lift up the radio ministry on Wednesdays. The rest of
the month will include seekers/people of peace. It may
take a couple of months to get a “normal”. I pray that
the changes will not cause a distraction. If there is a
particular person or village that you are drawn to pray
for, I can give more details on an individual basis.
Please pray for Kimberly
as she continues work in the Sedhiou area as our family
goes stateside. God has richly blessed us with the GCC’s
in Sedhiou mentioned early who also work among the
Mandinka people. Kimberly may be moving to another town
to be closer to our personnel. Please pray for Kimberly
as she makes adjustments in her ministry in Sedhiou as
well as new opportunities.
Trusting Him,
June
01-07: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of
wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is
understanding (Proverbs 9:10, HCSB). Pray for these
village leaders to come to know Christ as Lord.
June 08-14: They
want to be teachers of the law, although they don't
understand what they are saying or what they are
insisting on (1 Timothy 1:7, HCSB). Pray for these
religious leaders to seek truth.
June 15-21: But
from there, you will search for the LORD your God, and
you will find Him
when you seek Him with all your heart and all your soul
(Deuteronomy4:29, HCSB). Pray for these seekers to truly
search for God.
June 22-28: How can
a young man keep his way pure? By keeping Your word
(Psalm 119:9, HCSB). Pray for these seekers to search
the scriptures.
June 29-30
However, I did give them this command: Obey Me, and
then I will be your God, and you will be My people. You
must walk in every way I command you so that it may go
well with you (Jeremiah 7:23, HCSB)." Pray that soon
there will be many mature Mandinka believers.
