June  2007 MNK Update

07 Dec 2007

 Dear Prayer Partners,

Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! Psalm 105:1

Greetings from the Mandinka team!  We want to thank you for praying for the Mandinka people and our team. This is a dry and thirsty land, but we are blessed with glimpses of evidence that the Holy Spirit is at work in Senegal and among the Mandinka people. For some time we have been praying for a young man in our neighborhood, BC. He is a student. On two separate occasions this month, he brought fellow students who asked for a Bible. Please continue to pray for BC and the other young men who are reading scripture. Please pray that they will search the scriptures to find Truth. One interesting note is the second young man is the son of the chief of the village “BF”.

May 30th prayer request was for MNK to question the teachings of their religious teachers. Richard was teaching in “BN”, one of the villages in the Blue Jay area. As he was teaching a woman asked what they could do to get rid of sin.  That is a question that is the result of your prayers. Richard shared God’s plan of Salvation. Please pray that the people of BN will ponder what they heard and believe.

Kimberly has begun language learning. She met a lady who has agreed to help her with her studies, so pray that Kimberly will be sensitive to opportunities to share Christ during these times.  Please also pray that Kimberly will be diligent to study the language. She has also had several opportunities to share meals and spend time with people in her neighborhood, so pray that these people would see a difference in her life and be open to the message she shares with them through reading Bible stories and playing tapes of the Sila Tilindingo.

We have another praise item that we want to share. Early in March a vision team from Charleston Baptist Association in Missouri came to Sedhiou.  They prayer walked in several villages. God placed the Mandinka people on the hearts of this team, and they conveyed this to the association. They are adopting the Mandinka people!  We look forward in anticipation of what God will do through this partnership. We are very excited about the increased prayer support for the Mandinka people. Prayer is the cornerstone of our ministry. Please join us in praising our Lord!

Please don’t hesitate to write if you have questions are there is anything that we can do to help you pray for the Mandinka people.

Your sister in Christ,

The Mandinka Team:

Scripture:

June 01-02:  “I am the LORD; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations, Isaiah 42:6.

June 03-09:  For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. Romans 3:20.

June 10-16:  He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.” Luke 19:40.

June 17-23 But from there you will seek the LORD your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29.

June 24-30:  “[They] have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water. Jeremiah 2: 12-13.
