February  2008 MNK Update

   February 1, 2008

Dear Faithful Prayer Partners,

We thank you for continuing to pray for the MNK. I hope that you know what a vital role you have in our ministry. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working (James 5:16, ESV)

We continue to lift up those who came to the Gathering. They are new prayer partners joining us in praying for the MNK particularly in the area that our team works. Please continue to pray for their witness presence in their communities. Pray for their protection from the enemy. They left the gathering on the mountain top. We know that the enemy likes to attack after success.

Just after the gathering we had the opportunity to assist a medical team who came to work with the Manjacks, another people group in this area. Many in the village SsB spoke Mandinka so our team helped with translation. It was wonderful to see the love of Christ in action. Many people who were seen benefited from some TLC, but others young and old were in serious need of medical attention. Each person who attended the clinic was prayed for. We pray that the people of SsB will seek to know the One who can heal them physically and spiritually.

We are excited about Hunter Street Baptist Church in Birmingham sending a team this month. This will be a team with experience as well as some new folks. An Optometrist will be with them. He will have a clinic on one of the days. Eye care is a problem for many people. The intensity of the sun takes its toll on many. We will be sharing Bible stories and praying in three villages: MK, BF, and BN. It is often said that someone in Is must hear the Gospel many times before accepting it as Truth. Please pray that as the volunteers share scripture that the Holy Spirit will enable many to believe.

Please continue to pray for Kimberly. She has been blessed with a friend and person of peace, DtD. Please pray for opportunities to have conversations on spiritual topics. Please lift her up as she seeks a new teaching point.

Our family would like to share an answer to prayer. Our oldest son, Alex, has been accepted into Maine Maritime Academy. It was the only school that he applied.  It will be quite an adjustment from West Africa to Maine. When we answered the call to come to West Africa God assured me that our boy’s education would be fine. Alex was in the third grade when we left the states. God is faithful.

Thank you for your endurance to remain in this task.

Your sister in Christ,

Scripture Reading:

Feb. 01-02: Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David (Isaiah 55:3, ESV).

Feb. 03-09: Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, (2Timothy 3:12, ESV).

Feb. 10-16:   Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually! (1Chronicles 16:11, ESV)

Feb. 17-23:  The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth (Psalm 145:18, ESV).

Feb. 24-29: My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God (Psalm 84:2, ESV).
